There was a total of 75 fatal car crashes in the Midland-Odessa metropolitan area during 2016 and 2017 combined. There was also a sharp increase in the number of car crashes that were reported over those two years, with 7,681 being reported in 2016, and 9,758 being reported in 2017.

There were 587 non-incapacitating injury crashes, with 838 people receiving non-incapacitating injuries. There were also 25 fatal crashes which resulted in 28 lives being lost.
